The Punggol Waterway Kayak Tour offers an exciting, immersive experience that combines urban design with lush natural surroundings. You’ll start at Punggol SAFRA, hopping onto a specially designed leg-powered kayak, which is easy to maneuver and lets you glide effortlessly through the scenic waterway at a relaxed pace.
As you paddle through beautiful artificial wetlands, you’ll encounter an ecosystem that teems with wildlife. You can spot over 100 bird species, including both local and exotic migratory varieties, making it a treat for birdwatchers. Butterflies, dragonflies, and even the occasional reptile add to the sense of adventure, creating a peaceful, natural oasis right within the city.
Guides enhance your journey with fascinating insights into Singapore’s biodiversity and culture. You’ll learn to identify native plants, herbs, and spices used in beloved Singaporean dishes. Discover wild pandan leaves, lemongrass, and other secret ingredients used to make local favorites like Nasi Lemak or Pandan Chiffon Cake. These discoveries offer a unique sensory dimension, helping you connect more deeply with Singapore’s food heritage.
One of the tour’s highlights is the chance to meet Punggol’s famous otters! This playful family of Smooth-Coated Otters calls the waterway home, and they’re known to pop up and greet visitors. If you hear splashing or squeaking nearby, it’s likely the otters, adding a delightful touch to your kayaking adventure.
